Plz help, confused about my ex?

okay so we been dating for around 8months now, then she tells me somethings changed, she sees me more as a friend than a bf so breaks up with me. but she still talks to me and calls me sometimes and told me the othe rday that "we were getting closer" and i thought this could work out again cuz it happend b4 for the same reason. the first time she did this we got back together after 2 months, then this time im not sure wut to do. i still care for her the same way i did b4 but just so confused. sometimes shes just like "i just want to be friends" but other times it seem like she still want to be together. and i cant just be friends after wut we've gone through. so plz help, i dont know wut to do
