Should a colonoscopy be performed on a person who has contracted mrsa?

It would not be recommended to do any type of invasive procedure on a patient who is suffering an infection from MSRA. Now of course there are going to be some unique cirstances where it may be a necessary step. It will simply come down to the risk-benefit essment-does the risk for carrying out that procedure outweigh the benefit or is it the other way around? There are some precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk, but again, if the patient has a full blown infection of MRSA then only in extreme cirstances would you opt to do this. There are other imaging techniques which could be considered as an alternative which are not as invasive.
